Who's Who?

Rev. Dr Andrew Knight
Vicar of St. Mary's Church

My former career was in the sciences, as a research chemist and latterly as a manager in a scientific company, before God grew within me a calling for ordination and the work of a parish priest. Over the years my passions for ministry have focused on seeing people come to a mature, personal faith and a vibrant and fulfilling relationship with Jesus, and to encourage and enable the God-given gifts of others and empower them for Christian service, worship and witness. I have delighted in helping all ages engage with the Bible especially a younger generation in church and schools, and helping to build faithful and diverse communities, whose members are pastorally committed to each other and who seek liberation for the poor and marginalised in society. In my spare time I enjoy adventure sports including hiking, skiing, potholing and just recently indoor skydiving!  Yet at home I’m most relaxed with a good book, having friends round for dinner or a trip the local pub for a pint of real ale.

Rev. Jane Motram
Curate at St. Mary's Church

I came to St Mary’s in Partington in 2020 on a 6-month placement as I went through the ‘discernment process’ considering ordination. In 2021 I received a recommendation from the Church of England to begin training at Emmanuel Theological College which also involved a 2-year placement for which I came back to Partington. I was ordained deacon in July 2023 and am back here for the next 3-years serving the church and local community as a curate, working alongside Andrew. Prior to coming to coming to Partington I worked for St Mary’s, Ashton on Mersey, firstly as an Administrator and then as the Operations Manager, and before that my background had been in marketing and communications.

My family and I moved into Partington at the start of my curacy and we’re really enjoying living in the community. Since moving my husband, Trevor and I have joined the local ballroom dancing group and I’m having a great time at the ladies nights at the Hideaway. On my days off, I love to get out into nature and enjoy the beauty of creation and if there’s an alpaca to spot along the way or a waterfall to pass by then even better!  I believe God is a God of relationship and he longs for us to know him and know how much he loves us; it transformed my life and it’s a delight to see how it transforms others. Faith is an on-going journey where we’re always learning something new about God, so as much as I’m here to serve and minister to the community here I also look forward to learning from you too.
